A State of Being

The exhibition features a selection of new work in the artist's abstract series, based on the philosophy of finding a sense of joy and spontaneity, especially in the process of making art.

Burkitt's intention for this exhibition is to convey, through painting, the joy and satisfaction that he feels working as an active, full time artist.

"Being happy is not an achievement; it is a state of being, something that we arrive at, often unexpectedly, and it is to be savoured and explored.

As an artist, it is not always apparent that we might be in this state, either; we carry on stoically at times and the work reflects our thinking, rather than our state of mind."
