Eduardo COSSIO

Trace of Construction_Eduardo Cossio.jpg

Peruvian-Australian artist Eduardo Cossio presents TRACE OF CONSTRUCTION, an exhibition of new photography works at Ellenbrook Arts.

Drawing on his practice as an experimental  musician, the exhibition explores performance
approaches to image-making, testing ideas of displacement and entanglement between mediums. Cossio’s imagery starts in the darkroom, a space associated with the unconscious by the Surrealist artists, and with worldbuilding since the early days of Photography.

The artist has re-worked photograms (camera-less photographs) with the addition of props and
projections. He creates stage-like arrangements that reconfigure the visual field whilst evoking the temporality of performance. Working at a larger scale than his previous exhibitions, the prints are presented as sculptural objects that respond to the gallery space.

TRACE OF CONSTRUCTION is accompanied by an events and performance program. Join us for
live sets by Eduardo Cossio, an artist talk with Robert Cook (Curator at the Art Gallery of WA), and an Outcome Unknown concert featuring some of Boorloo’s foremost sound-explorers.
